Primary schools gear up for athletics season

A few schools such as Mzilikazi and Emakhandeni primary in Bulawayo however said they had already started preparations for the athletics season.
Deputy head of Emakhandeni Primary School Buker Dladla confirmed that the school had started training for the new season. He also said they were yet to get this season’s calendar from the National Association of Primary Heads (Naph).
“As a school we have now started training for this year’s athletics season. This is an internal school activity as we are yet to get this year’s schedules from Naph,” he said.
Sports director at Mzilikazi Primary School only identified as A Tshuma also said her school was gearing up for this year’s athletics season.
“We started training for this term as we await the season’s timetable from Naph,” she said.
Naph chairperson Enock Ncube confirmed that schools were yet to receive this year’s calendar of events but said what was pleasing was that schools had started preparing for the athletics season.
He however said a meeting to discuss the issue will be held today.
