30 players were selected.
They will be trimmed to 24.
National Rugby League general manager, Sifiso Made, said they expected to select the best possible squad.
“We had a huge turnout and there was a lot of talent in most of the players and the final squad will be selected soon. “We are going to select the best squad to represent the nation and make us proud. The matches will be played over three days which will mean they will be four games each day.
“We are looking at matches to be played on the 25, 29 and September 1,” said Made.
The teams are expected to arrive in the country from August 23 and have a training day at Prince Edward.
The eight countries to take part are Zambia, Tunisia, Morocco, Namibia, Uganda, Kenya, Madagascar and hosts Zimbabwe. Having won the last three editions of the Junior Africa Cup, Zimbabwe went on to represent the continent at the Junior World Rugby Trophy tournament.
They hope to repeat the same feat for next year’s world showcase set for Chile.
