Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube today commissioned state-of-the-art printing equipment worth US$3.4 million at Printflow in a development that is expected to significantly boost the company’s production capacity and position it among leading regional printing firms.

The six new machines are set to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness at the printing and packaging firm.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Professor Ncube said, “I am informed that this new technology will boost the company’s overall capacity and enable it to effectively compete with other players.

“This move will amplify employment in related downstream processes as your products are used in successive industrial and commercial activities, supporting the President’s mantra of ‘leaving no place and no one behind.’

“As the shareholder, my Ministry has so far outlaid over US$3,3 million towards these game-changing machines in support of the company’s strategic thrust and vision,” he said.

The newly commissioned equipment includes a Heidelberg CX104, a high-capacity machine capable of large-format commercial, packaging board, and label printing.

Other additions are the Heidelberg SX74 H, the Heidelberg Versafire EP, a Polar 137 Guillotine, desktop publishing machines, and smart digital printers.

Professor Ncube reminded guests of the importance of collective effort in implementing the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), which seeks to transition Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

“This transition will only be possible through harnessing and deploying cutting-edge technology to create sustainable workspaces,” he said.

Prof Ncube added that the new machines are environmentally friendly, noting that Government remains mindful of the effects of climate change on the economy.
