Primary and Secondary Education Minister Torerayi Moyo has praised private schools for their crucial role in advancing the Government’s goal of providing quality education in line with the Education 5.0 policy.
During the annual speech and prize-giving day at Eagles Christian Group of Schools in Harare last week, Minister Moyo commended the school’s founder, Mrs Thusitse Kuta, for her leadership.
“This institution’s curriculum aligns with the Education 5.0 Policy, thereby reinforcing Government’s efforts to enhance quality education nationwide.
“Education extends beyond academic success; it involves nurturing students’ talents, shaping their character, fostering critical thinking, and preparing them to be productive and responsible global citizens.”
Mrs Kuta emphasised the importance of teaching children entrepreneurial skills, innovation, and industrialisation to cultivate economically independent individuals.
“In line with Education 5.0, we are equipping our children with entrepreneurial skills,” she said.
“We encourage creativity and innovation. For instance, our Grade 3 students are producing dishwashing liquids, and learning about ingredient sourcing, labour costing, and marketing. They are also creating baskets and recycling plastic into handmade bags.
“We have talented students engaged in braiding and textile design, and we are nurturing their abilities.”
Mrs Kuta said the school is fostering students who are not merely job seekers but are also productive within their homes and communities, ultimately aiding in the development of Zimbabwe’s economy.
