Women are increasingly taking up senior management positions in the private sector, a clear indication that gender-inclusive policies are being adopted in the workplace, a report has revealed.
According to the latest Baseline Survey on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment with the Private Sector, launched last week by UN Women, companies established in the past five years have the highest number of female CEOs.
“The findings also show that companies formed in the last five years have the highest number of women in CEO positions. The female CEO to male CEO ratio is approximately 1:2 in these companies.
“On the other hand, the best ratio achieved in companies formed more than six years ago is 1:4, while the worst is 1:6.
“The improvement over the past five years is partly attributable to the increasing calls for gender equality and women’s empowerment in the private sector, which are influencing positive changes at the company registration stage,” the report states.
