CAPS United blew a chance to move clear of relegation trouble as their inconsistency came back to haunt them as they suffered another defeat at Rufaro yesterday.
It was probably the worst game which Makepekepe have played under the guidance of Zambian gaffer Ian Bakala.
A first half brace from Moses Demera, with the first one coming courtesy of the uneven pitch at Rufaro which deceived the ‘keeper, sucked life out Makepeke. Bisilla Mabiala headed home to reduce the deficit but CAPS United went to sleep in the second half. Charles Munyanyi buried all hopes of a late comeback from Makepekepe as he extended the lead at the death.
“The way we have conceded today is disappointing and our defenders have to do better,” said Bakala.
“Our inconsistency has also been caused by the injuries and the coming in of new players who are still learning. “We haven’t had a preferred 11 because of that and we now need to focus on our remaining games to avoid relegation.”
ZPC Kariba coach Newton Chitewe was naturally happy as he ended their jinx against Makepekepe. ZPC Kariba last recorded a victory against CAPS United in the 2017 campaign and Chitewe hailed his men. “I’m very happy with this big win, CAPS United are a strong side and we last beat them at their turf a long time ago,” said Chitewe.
“The players know what this victory means to the team because they know that we have to finish the campaign in a respectable position.
“This will give us confidence in our next fixtures because the last games of the season are very unpredictable.”
The Kariba side have 37 points.
Bakala was outclassed tactically by Chitewe who revealed that his game-plan was to apply pressure on the hosts’ defense. Bakala’s troops are now just three points above Dynamos.

Thought they had a good game first half! Second half the match was balanced, ZPC came back into the game. Sigh, taiti tazorora! Asi zvinonzi navakuru nhamo haibve pane imwe! Toita sei nebig 3
