Producers of a two-hour film titled “Ko Vaizivei (If Only They Knew)” are looking for sponsorship to be able to release the film this year.
Abigail Dhliwayo, who is the executive producer, said they were looking for at least US$5  2000 to complete the film.
“We are seeking funds for our new film which cost US$5 2000. The money will be used for the production and the crew,” she said.
Dhliwayo said the film was a warning to rapists and would-be rapists that their time was up. She said they also touched by the incidents involving Stacey Munjoma who was raped and then killed as well as Given Flint Matapure who was kidnapped.

“We intend to form the Stacey Munjoma Foundation in support of rape victims. This is an issue which we also want ministers to address because they are the right people to call for change in the way people behave,” she said.
Dhliwayo also hailed President Mugabe’s calls for more severe sentences for rapists.

According to Locadia Matenga, the production manager, the film is based on life stories of rape victims and how they struggle with the trauma.

“We have noted that rape victims do not necessarily get assistance from the organisations that purport to champion the rights of girls. We have featured a number of rape victims and the rapists themselves who give their own side of the story,” she said.

A lot of rape cases were based on falsehoods from men who believe that raping a child would cure them of HIV and Aids while others rape girls as part of rituals.

“These acts should be condemned because they are based on falsehoods. Of concern is that some traditionalists who condone such acts must also face the full wrath of the law,” Matenga said.

She said Zimbabwe had talented actors and actress who need exposure and the film would be a platform for new talents.
Both Dhliwayo and Matenga are accomplished actresses who featured in television soap “Small House Saga” and a film called Delete. Dhliwayo starred as Sharon in the “Small House Saga” while Matenga played Mai Angeline in the same soap.
