MUSICIAN Progress Chipfumo has been acquitted of an errant driving charge by Harare magistrate Simon Kandiero after a full trial.

Magistrate Kandiero ruled that the State had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The accident occurred on March 19, at around 5pm, with the State claiming that Chipfumo was driving a BMW X3 along Samora Machel Avenue west in Harare.

Chipfumo, who was driving in the inner lane, was said to have changed lanes intending to park on the left side.

The State claimed he did not check if the road was clear to change lanes.

His car collided with a Nissan Cube being driven by Pazara Shepherd.

Chipfumo’s car sustained damages on the left front door, left front bumper and fender, while Wazara’s car sustained frontal damages.
