Project Fame: Will it restore lost fame?

COULD this be the demise of one of the most promising but inconsistent groups, Project Fame? Or is it the beginning of a new era for one of its founders?
It is a public secret that the Kaminyu siblings, Lufa and Mercy, who make up the group Project Fame, a few years ago placed Mutare on the national music grid with their soulful, soothing and lyrically rich songs like Matindingoma, Usacheme featuring Roki and Chabvondoka, among other hits, before they sank into oblivion years later.

At one time, the charming Mercy, fondly known as MK47, featured on Decibel’s hit song, Ndinewe, before she went quiet and broke her fans’ hearts.

Three years ago, the group failed to finish recording their potentially explosive comeback album, Ngoma ndiyo ndiyo, for reasons best known to them.

The group has resurfaced, but one of the founder members is missing.

The 29-year-old artiste, Mercy, is now a lone ranger after Lufa relocated to South Africa last year.

She has unleashed a new single, Ndadzoka, which was expected to be launched yesterday (Thursday).

The song was produced at TMG Records in Harare by Mr Noxxa. Gifted songwriter Flexo features on the song.

In an interview, Mercy could not comment on her conspicuous absence from the music scene, but vowed to make an indelible mark again.
