Prophet Magaya a local Bill Cosby?

I WAS barely out of my early years of existence when the world woke up to the news of a Mike Tyson rape case in 1992.

I didna��t even know what the word a�?sexa�? meant only that it appeared on my birth certificate.

The a�?baddest man on the planeta�? was my hero. He could do no wrong and the only hurtful experience in his career was when he lost to James a�?Bustera�? Douglas two years earlier.

Iron Mike as he was passionately called was a crowd and hysteria puller like Zimbabwea��s own Prophet Magaya.

Women would throw themselves onto him just like followers do to Magaya.

Ita��s called power a�� but when ita��s not properly absorbed it corrupts.

a�?I receive Papa,a�? is a statement that I have come across when women and men kneel in front of powerful men like Magaya.

Never mind that those kneeling people can affect the price of bread or lobby for landmark laws on the land. That therea��s high temptation for anyone.

If you can make game changers bow to you, who are you?

Ita��s reported that some people knelt when the Man of God, Prophet Magaya was granted bail in a case where he is accused of raping a female congregant and later on paying her $200.

(Not even executive ladies of the night charge that little ($200), thata��s an issue for another day.)

At a Sunday service in Harare, Magaya is reported to have said it was the work of his enemies and from the reports there, the crowd believed what their a�?Papaa�? said.

I am not writing this to condemn Prophet Magaya or his accuser but to look at things as they are in the real world.

Magayaa��s blend of gospel has been phenomenal, he has arguably surpassed his predecessors such as Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa and the now United Kingdom based Prophet Uebert Angel. Those two had a good run, but Magaya like Tocky Vibes, took the nation by storm.

Some preachers would gossip, a�? I knew it, I knew it, this guy is dodgy,a�? after all, jealous and envy are part of human nature.

Magaya is the man to beat if you want to make it big in this prosperity preaching business today.

For instance, he is building 46 000 houses countrywide. Do the maths, if he sells each house for about US$10 000 he will make a good $460 000 000 (four hundred and sixty million).

If he pays off his taxes and returns initial investment capital, he can remain with something in the range of at least $200 000 000 (two hundred million).

To put it into perspective thata��s Floyd Mayweather kind of money. By the way, this is just what we know in the public domain. There are other investments such as a hotel etc not factored.

So just imagine if you have had sexual interaction with such a mega bucks dude? What would you do especially if the guy is seemingly out of your reach now and suddenly you are bitter?

And also, if you had so much money, power and respect like Magaya,A� having messed up would you not get away with murder? Remember it can take a�?throwing money at the problema�? for you with an out of court settlement.

Therea��s nothing special about Prophet Magayaa��s issue. Not so long ago he was faced with similar allegations that ended up bordering on extortion.

His association with erotic dancer Beverly Sibanda was also shrouded in controversy. Before inviting Bev to his ministry, Magaya was relatively unknown to many countrywide.

He owes some of his popularity to the dancer and their fallout is best known by both of them.

If more women come forward with sexual accusations Magaya could be our local Bill Cosby.

Cosby has been battling a series of sexual assault charges that stretch as far as 40 years back.

Prophet Magaya is a spiritual man and issues of a spiritual nature a�� the world that he is believed to be operating in a�� cannot be quantified.

But the sexual assault charges are a legal matter. Ita��s about what can be proven. Ita��s a game of facts.
At the end of it all it could pan out as that Prophet Magaya is a sex pest or a victim of his success. If a victim, the accusations will be his cross to carry.
