Pros prepare for Harare Open

tees off tomorrow at the same venue.
The Golden Pilsiner Harare Open is the last professional tournament on this year’s Zambezi Tour calendar.
Barely a week after taking part in the Econet Joshua Nkomo Memorial Classic, which was won by Ryan Cairns, the professional golfers return to action to close a very good season for the local game.
Golden Pilsiner are the brand sponsors of the Zambezi Tour and have the naming rights for three years.
The Golden Pilsiner Harare Open will draw several golfers who were part of the field at Royal Harare for the Econet Joshua Nkomo Memorial Classic.
Tongo Charamba, who missed the tourney last week as he opted to play in the Alfred Dunhill Championships in South Africa, returns to the fold.
Charamba was invited to South Africa on the strength of his strong performance last year when he finished seventh.
Zambezi Tour tournament director, Mike Mahachi, has released the schedule for the Harare Open at Chapman.
“Golfers are encouraged to book times directly with Chapman golf administration. On Thursday, there will be the first round, which tees off in the morning and the second round will also be held on the same day.
“The third and final round will be a Pro-Am. A prize presentation and cocktail will follow later on during the day,” said Mahachi.
Ignatius Mketekete continues to lead the local tour order of merit.
The golfer has estimated earnings of US$17 869.83 going into the last tournament of the season.
Robson Saurombe managed to leapfrog Charamba into second place with US$12 753.42.
Charamba is third despite missing the Leopard Rock Classic and the Joshua Nkomo Memorial with US$10 170. Phillip Tshuma is in fourth place with US$ 9 970 and Brian Gondo has earnings of US$ 7 710. 67.
Lyford Yadyo, Ryan Cairns, Roger Jack, Day Muyambo and Peter Banda complete the Top Ten.
