Prosecutor in trouble over US$750 bribe

A PROSECUTOR is in trouble for allegedly soliciting a bribe.

Brian Muchengeti Chitsungo was arrested and has appeared in court.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said Brian solicited US$750 from Eunice Mlambo.

This was an inducement to facilitate the release of her husband, Michael Mlambo .

The police were tipped off which led to his arrest.

“On 17 February, the police received information that the public prosecutor at the Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court had solicited US$750 from Eunice Mlambo.

“When the accused person learnt that he was being investigated he returned part of the money and remained with a balance of US$150.

“Eunice Mlambo then gave the accused person R3 000, 400 pula, and US$550.”

Brian was granted $40 000 bail on Monday.
