The Professional Women, Women Executives and Business Women’s Forum (PROWEB) on Thursday honoured the newly-appointed female Cabinet ministers during its Women’s Achievers’ awards ceremony held in Harare.
Those who received awards were Defence and War Veterans Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza, Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Minister Sithembiso Nyoni, Environment,Tourism and Hospitality Minister Prisca Mupfumira, Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Minister Kirsty Coventry and Minister of State in the Office of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Evelyn Ndlovu.
Speaking at the 2018 award giving ceremony guest of honour, Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mrs Carmelina Ramirez Rodriguez, urged women to keep climbing the ladder of success.
“To the award winners and to those that have achieved, I would like to tell you one important point, there are many ladders in life,” she said. “One on top of the other, as you complete climbing one, you are actually at the bottom of the next one.
“As we celebrate today, remember that this is not the end, but the beginning of yet another climb which can be in the same sector as before or in a totally different sector in politics, in business or in professional development.”
PROWEB president Dr Grace Muradzikwa said celebrating each women’s achievements was important.
“Among our core values is the celebration of each other’s achievements, an initiative for which PROWEB is known to have in constant motion through various social media platforms,” she said.
“Our awardees tonight are the extraordinary women who have broken glass ceilings, have pushed the frontiers of women’s initiatives and have paved the path for other women and girls to follow in their footsteps.”
The Businesswoman of the Year and Woman CEO of the Year awards went to Securico chief executive Divine Ndlukula and BAT Zimbabwe chief executive Ms Clara Mlambo respectively.
