Former gospel outfit Vocal Extraordinary (Vocal Ex) member Sizani Mdlongwa is set to cement his solo career with a live DVD recording which will be shot at the Family Of God (FOG) auditorium on 30 November.
This will be the first visual recording for Mdlongwa after he successfully released his six-track Extended Play (EP) titled Isabelo Sami late last year.
However, the soft-spoken pint-sized gospel sensation revealed that he will not be performing any songs from his Isabelo Sami offering. Fresh music is prepared and well penned for worshippers.
“This is my first live DVD recording after releasing my first solo project Isabelo Sami last year. I want to assure worshippers to come in numbers because this is more of a surprise gospel gathering as I will be delivering new music.
“I have managed to pen new compositions that I am sure people will love, and I will do more Ndebele hymns on the day of the show because they seem to have faded away so we are reviving them,” said Mdlongwa.
Other gospel artistes that will perform at the DVD recording include Mai Mwamuka, Chelsea Mguni, Knowledge Nkiwane, Lorraine “Stot” Maplanka and Vocal Ex.
Meanwhile, it is a strange scenario for a gospel musician to have been inspired by Kwaito stars. However, for Mdlongwa, South Africa’s Msawawa and Mzambiya are his childhood heroes and they inspired him to do music.
“I started doing music at a tender age and the likes of Mzambiya and Msawawa inspired me to do music. In 2007 I received God at FOG and I then switched to do gospel music so that I can change people’s lives with the talent God gave me,” said Mdlongwa.
Mdlongwa is a psalmist at Cowdray Park’s Divine Healing and Prophetic Ministries (DHP) under the leadership of former Djembe Monks member Black Cee (Pastor Ndumiso Tshuma).
