The Public Service Commission (PSC) secretariat, alongside worker union representatives, recently embarked on a guided tour of the Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC) Zimbabwe manufacturing plant and the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) Workers’ Compensation Rehabilitation Centre in Bulawayo. The visit was part of the PSC’s ongoing efforts to develop a comprehensive Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) policy.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the PSC stated that the tours, which took place on Friday, were led by Government Team Leader and PSC Head of Pay and Benefits, Mr Nobert Machinjike.

“The tour aimed to familiarise participants with the plant’s operations and provide a comprehensive safety induction. The NSSA Workers’ Compensation Rehabilitation Centre in Bulawayo is a unique facility in Zimbabwe, offering clinical rehabilitation services to workers with work-related injuries and diseases,” said the PSC.

The initiative forms part of their efforts to gain a deeper understanding of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and to prioritise the safety of public service workers.

The tour also provided the PSC secretariat with valuable insights into the importance of workplace safety, proving to be an enlightening experience for all involved.
