PSL defending champions livid. . . As Byo City convoy a?smugglesa fans into stadium

DEFENDING champions Chicken Inn are not an amused lot after a convoy of cars allegedly smuggled in hordes of Bulawayo City fans into Luveve Stadium last Saturday.

Chicken Inn played host to Bulawayo City at the venue and with the former being an affiliate of Bulawayo City Council a they seemingly had access into the stadium.

To make matters worse for Chicken Inn, they lost by a goal to nil scoreline in the encounter.

Now Chicken In is crying foul.

a?We cannot have people bulldozing themselves into the stadium. Bulawayo City are just affiliates of the City Council. How could they use undesignated entry with a convoy of vehicles? From my own estimation about 50 non-VIP Card carrying people gained free entry following the development. That was barbaric and unsportsman like behaviour,a? said Mlungisi Moyo, the teamas treasurer.

Before the start of the match, Gamecocks, through their secretary Tawengwa Hara immediately registered their concern through a letter that was handed to the match commissioner.

a?We had hired that facility for use on that particular day and we needed revenue just like any other club in the league. Our secretary general engaged the match commissioner through a formal letter before the match began.A We are going to take the same letter to PSL. As PSL treasurer, I was worried about the revenue that we lost. People were smuggled into the stadium while we were expected to enjoy home advantage. If clubs will be allowed to behave in such a manner then we are doomed,a? said a fuming Moyo.

Despite the setback, Moyo said the game in question attracted a crowd of 267 spectators, a drop from 891 fans that watched their goalless draw against How Mine.

Meanwhile, Chicken Inn secretary Tawengwa Hara said as part of their marketing strategy they had written to PSL seeking to partner Bulawayo schools in a development that would see pupils in school uniform gain free entry for Gamecocks home games.

a?While we have had counter attractions with regards to our home matches, we have written to the PSL requesting to partner schools in Bulawayo. This is meant to give schoolchildren free entry during our matches. It is part of our marketing strategy as a club,a? said Hara. .
