PSL to hold strategic planning

Ndebele, said the strategic workshop is slated for March 7 to 9 with the league then holding their general meeting shortly afterwards.
The general meeting, set for March 10, is meant to lay the platform for the 2012 Castle Lager Premiership season.
But it is the strategic planning workshop that is set to give a new dimension to the operations of the local  Premiership which is hoping for better fortunes following the coming on board of several sponsors last year.
The last strategic planning workshop by the PSL was held way back in 2006 and the league was unbranded then.
The plan has since lapsed and the top-flight football has been operating on the Harare Declaration of December 2009.
“We should be meeting for a strategic workshop from March 7 to 9.
“At the moment the league has no strategic plan and there is need to put one in place.
“This strategic plan should be able to guide us so that we can see where we are going and where we are coming from.
“For now we had been operating on the Harare Declaration,” said Ndebele.
The strategic planning workshop is also coming after the league’s executive committee met in the capital two weeks ago to discuss a number of issues that included the kick-off dates for the league.
The league is hoping for even better fortunes this year and Ndebele said the strategic plan should be able to guide them on their targets.
Last month the Ministry of Education Sports, Arts and Culture called for a meeting in the capital where they urged all the sporting associations to have proper strategic plans in place. 
Ndebele is also hoping that by the time they hold the strategic planning workshop, the league will be clear on the status of teams that have been promoted from the Zifa Central Region and the Northern Region Division One.
Harare City and DStv Rangers are engaged in boardroom squabbles for promotion from the Northern Region while Triple B and Hardbody are fighting for the ticket from the Central Region.
The cases are being handled by Zifa but the PSL have hinted that they could be forced to go along with 14 teams if the disputes are not resolved on time.
This year’s top-flight season is expected to start with the NetOne Charity Shield between league champions Dynamos and Motor Action, who were the runners-up in the knock out competition.
