PSL wants more cup sponsorships

PREMIER Soccer League chairman Farai Jere says they will continue to hunt for more corporate sponsors for tournaments.

Jere told Zimpapers Sports that getting sponsorships for more tournaments is an on-going challenge as they want the PSL to stay an attractive league.

“We have always been looking forward to more sponsorship. We have never stopped looking for it. Looking for sponsorship is something we do every day,” said Jere.

Currently, the League has the Castle Lager Premiership, the Castle Lager Challenge Cup pitting league champions and Chibuku Super Cup champions.

Describing their longstanding relationship with Zimbabwe football’s biggest supporter of the last 60 years, Jere said they are happy with the support Delta Beverages has given them.

He added that they are always exploring how best to service the game and derive more value either way.

Jere said every season Delta Beverages increases its support for the game locally and also showed their commitment to the partnership by sending their senior management to the PSL workshop held in Bulawayo on Friday and Saturday.

He said the sponsors contributed at the seminar and that the League was trying to get everyone together, including promoted clubs, to have an appreciation of operations and rules and regulations upon which all PSL activities are governed.

Meanwhile, Jere said they have confidence in PSL chief executive officer, Kennedy Ndebele.

“We have trust in the capabilities of Kenny Ndebele being helped by the board,” said Jere.
