PREMIER Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) is intensifying its health awareness campaign at the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Show through a series of health education sessions and wellness activities aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles among exhibitors and visitors.
The initiative, which includes health talks, physical fitness activities and wellness demonstrations, is running throughout the annual exhibition as the medical aid society seeks to encourage disease prevention and healthy living.
Speaking at the PSMAS exhibition stand yesterday, the society’s communications and public relations officer, Mrs Paidamoyo Chipunza said the programme targets all visitors attending the show, including farmers and exhibitors.
“As PSMAS, we are trying to reach out to the farmers who are coming to the Agricultural Show to exhibit their wares with health information. We are promoting healthy eating, healthy living and physical activity through different activities that we are having at the stand,” she said.
Mrs Chipunza said the organisation has lined up health talks covering a wide range of wellness issues.a
“The health talks are designed to give information to our members but also to the general public, visitors and exhibitors,” she said.
“We are giving them information about healthy eating, wellness and keeping themselves healthy so that they continue powering the growth of the nation.”
She said the initiative dovetails with this year’s Zimbabwe Agricultural Show theme by promoting good health among citizens who contribute to national economic development.
“As PSMAS, we are coming in to say we are the ones who care for those people who power the growth of the nation,” said Mrs Chipunza.
“We offer various services and information to help them keep healthy and continue supporting the economy.”
She said health education sessions will be held throughout the show, covering topics such as healthy eating, physical activity, mental health, and drug and substance abuse.
The society has also introduced interactive fitness activities, including Zumba sessions, treadmill races, exercise bicycles and a mini basketball court to encourage members of the public to embrace active lifestyles.
“We will also have a physical trainer conducting Zumba sessions and other physical activities. People can also take part in treadmill races and other fun activities that encourage health and wellness,” she said.
Mrs Chipunza said the campaign was open to all visitors, with mobilisation teams, radio infomercials and flyers being used to encourage participation.
“This is open to everyone. Every visitor to the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show and every exhibitor is being encouraged to come to our stand and take part in these activities,” she said.
She said the exhibition also provided an opportunity to showcase Premier Lifestyle, PSMAS’ wellness brand, as the medical aid society celebrates its 95th anniversary.
“This is the brand that we are profiling together with PSMAS as we celebrate our 95th year of existence,” said Mrs Chipunza.
The health and wellness campaign is expected to continue for the duration of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, with visitors encouraged to take advantage of the free health education and fitness activities on offer.
