NEW footage has emerged from the World Cup final brawl that shows a sly dig that kicked it all off.
One video shows Manchester City star Rodri confronting Nahuel Molina after the full-time whistle.
But a video of the immediate elation that followed Spain’s 1-0 win over Argentina shows the winners sprinting in joy to celebrate and Molina throwing a punch at the former Ballon d’Or winner’s stomach.
Only then does Rodri turn and confront the full-back.
It was a terrible display from Lionel Scaloni’s men as they failed to muster a single shot on target in the entire 120 minutes.
Argentina lost all composure at the final whistle with a series of bust-ups that left their World Cup showing marred in disgrace.
After the final whistle, the losers’ frustrations boiled over with Leandro Paredes going after Spain ace Gavi and Eric Garcia.
Referee Slavko Vincic showed Paredes a red card after the unsavoury scenes unfolded,
Many perceived Argentina’s overtly physical style in the semi-final against England to be too much, but this was another level of thuggery.
England legend Alan Shearer was scathing of the losing team’s behaviour in his post match analysis on the BBC.
“He went for them. There is no place or space for that.
“We know how much it means to them and we know how much it hurts to lose, but there is a way to lose.
“Too many times we have seen that from Argentina.
“The reaction after the final whistle is terrible.”
Piers Morgan was among the high-profile names to condemn Argentina’s actions, too.
He wrote on X: “Disgusting behaviour by the Argentinians at the end, especially Paredes.
“Just a bunch of nasty violent thugs, and a disgrace to football. Never been so happy to see a team lose.” – Sun
