IT was all joy and jubilation at Dingumuzi Stadium as Qhosha Football Club were crowned 2025 Plumtree Social Soccer League (PSSL) champions after a thrilling season that kept fans on their feet.
The colourful trophy presentation was attended by Ward 5 Councillor Maxwell Washaya and guest of honour Jackson Mlondolozi, who both praised the league’s role in uplifting the community.
“We are very grateful for this initiative by the PSSL, as it aligns with the Presidential Vision 2030 of leaving no one behind,” said Cllr Washaya. “Our youths have earned a living from this league; it has kept them occupied, minimising the chances of them partaking in drug and substance abuse, and has also reduced criminal activities in our community.”

Qhosha’s triumphant coach, Richard Mazhindu, was full of pride and gratitude after leading his team to glory.
“I am humbled and very excited,” said Mazhindu. “My team listened to me with respect, and their good discipline is what led us this far. Thank you to Mbongeni Mpofu for trusting me and allowing me to coach your team.”

The 2025 season, which kicked off in May, featured eight teams — Qhosha FC, ZPCS Strikers, Amo FC, Nxele FC, M Academy, Hebron Stars, Plumtree Chiefs, and Izimnyama Crackers — all battling it out at Dingumuzi Stadium.
League treasurer Anele “Mbonono” Ndlovu said the competition was growing fast and hinted at an even bigger 2026 season.

“The league will resume next year around March, and we hope to have at least 16 teams participating,” said Ndlovu.

With Qhosha FC lifting the trophy and promising to defend it next year, Plumtree’s football community is buzzing with excitement — proof that grassroots soccer is alive and kicking in the border town.
