Quelaton, Blue Rangers draw

Blue Rangers looked set to register their first win of the season after Mario Mabachi beat Quelaton’s goalkeeper Freedom Magaba from close range in the first minute.

Blue Rangers’ midfielder Talent Munetsi had dispossessed Innocent Kutsanzira on the right, dribbled past Sikhumbulani Dube and Zibusiso Sibanda before sending a low cross which Mabachi put beyond the reach of Magaba.

Tedius Mugumanya equalised for Quelaton four minutes before halftime after getting to the end of a beautiful build-up involving Gracious Mleya and Kutsanzira.

Mleya had won a midfield tussle and played the ball to Kutsanzira who left former Dynamos defender Nyasha Chazika for dead before sending a defence-splitting pass to Mugumanya who beat an advancing Blue Rangers goalkeeper Seeba Maponga.

Both coaches were satisfied with the result. Blue Rangers’ coach Wishes Shiridzinonwa blamed his defenders for losing concentration as he felt that they could have won.

Blue Rangers remain glued to the bottom of the log with three points from nine matches while Quelaton are second from bottom. After getting an early goal yesterday, Blue Rangers looked comfortable on the ball with the hosts chasing shadows but the visitors failed to utilise their 20 minutes dominance.
