NOT even drizzle and chilly winds could dampen the patriotic spirit in Bulawayo, as thousands of residents flooded White City Stadium for the province’s 45th Independence Day celebrations!

Early morning showers tried to throw a spanner in the works, but the weather gave way just in time for the show to go on — and what a show it is turning out to be!
The ceremony kicked off in style with a majestic march into the main arena by the uniformed forces, setting the tone for a day of pomp, pride, and patriotism.

Big guns were in the house — including Brigadier General Cephas Gurira, ZRP’s Commissioner Jasper Chizemo, Prisons boss Commissioner Mkhulunyelwa Ngwenya, and Provincial Intelligence Officer Mr Last Ngwenya.
Also spotted among the dignitaries was Deputy Minister Raj Modi, flanked by Bulawayo’s deputy mayor Councillor Edwin Ndlovu, standing in for Mayor David Coltart.
Running the show were the day’s commanding trio: Major Douglas Moyo (ZNA), Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele (ZRP), and Correctional Officer Vusa Mumpande (ZPCS) — proving that discipline and unity remain at the core of Zimbabwe’s journey.
Despite the chill, the warmth of unity and celebration filled the stadium — Zimbabwe is 45, and Bulawayo showed up strong!
