Rainfall expected over weekend

These rains are expected to last up to mid next week.
MSD senior meteorological officer, Mr Jonathan Chifuna said the rains were expected to last up to December 7.
“A cloud band should move into the country from the west and this should result in increased rainfall activity.
“Heavy falls in excess of 50mm in 24 hours are expected on Saturday in Manicaland Province,” he said.
Last week there had been a general decline in rainfall activity across the country.
This resulted in the rising of temperatures into the very hot category although they were not significant. Mr Chifuna said the highest temperature recorded for the period was 39 degrees Celsius for Beitbridge and West Nicholson, 38 degrees Celsius, Buffalo Range and Kezi on Thursday.
From Wednesday last week, the temperatures were generally above 30 degrees Celsius.
Zimbabwe expects normal rainfall during the 2011/12 season with a bias towards below normal during the first half and above normal during the second half of the season.
The MSD has, however, urged farmers to consult extension officers on agricultural activities.
