A 43-year-old man from Mvurwi was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping his 14-year-old daughter.
The man appeared before the Bindura Magistrates’ Court on rape charges.
According to court documents, the incident happened in July 2021, at around 1300 hours, when the victim was at home alone.
The complainant reported that she heard someone trying to open the door to her room.
When she went to check, she encountered the accused person, who was her father.
The man allegedly dragged the victim to a nearby banana thicket, where he removed her clothes and raped her.
The victim screamed but to no avail as the accused threatened to chase her out of the house if she told anyone.
The matter came to light when the complainant confided in her aunt, who accompanied her to file a police report. The accused was arrested and convicted on the rape charges.
The court handed down a 20-year prison sentence.
