The absence of top juniors Grant Hudson and Bret Krog will open up “a hole” for a new champion.
Hudson and Krog were taking part in the 48th edition of the Doral and Orange Bowl International Junior Golf Championships in the United States last week. Several other young golfers, who won the Tri-nations against Zambia and Malawi, are, however, expected to take part in this week’s tournament. Eugene Nguru and Seth Greenwood will be among the favourites. The tournament is the first event which falls under the Zimbabwe
Junior Golf Association order of merit and will give the golfers the points. Junior Golf Association manager Roger Baylis is hopeful that this year’s edition of the tournament will have some strong competition.
“We are looking forward to a very competitive tournament.
“The tournament will give the juniors an opportunity to gauge their strength as they prepare for a brief off-season. We will have another competition during the April school holidays,” said Baylis.
