Real are desperate for silverware next season having not won a major trophy this year and the Sunday Telegraph report that the club’s president Florentino Perez has promised Ancelotti that a bid will be made for Bale. Ancelotti is set to replace Chelsea-bound Jose Mourinho at Madrid after the Italian reiterated his desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain.
Spurs are determined to keep hold of Bale and are confident of doing so despite not qualifying for next year’s Champions League. Bale will hold talks with the club before the summer transfer window opens to discuss his future.
Both Bale and Spurs are keen to avoid the tense stand-off that marred relations between Luka Modric and the club two summers ago.
White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy blocked Modric’s move to Chelsea on that occasion but sold him to Real the following summer. Bale is keen to explore his options as Europe’s hottest property, with Manchester City and Manchester United thought to be considering offers for the wide man.
However, with Bale tied down to a contract with three years left to run, Levy still has a strong hand to play if he does not want to sell his star asset. —Mailonline.
