Dendera Kings.
The move comes hot on the heels of new appointments to the band which now boasts a fully fledged management as a private company.
About the clothing line, fans are spoilt for choice as there are branded caps, travelling bags, trench coats, casual jackets, men’s suits, golf shirts, formal shirts, belts, key holders and others.
Some of the merchandise is inscribed with the words “Batai Munhu” in reference to Sulu’s hit song “Sean Timba”.
Effectively this means Sulu, as his is affectionately known by his legion of fans, will join some Hollywood stars who have launched their designer wear and fragrances.
Trevor Jakachira remains the head of the management while Joe “Local” Nyamungoma will be the head of public relations,
Other members in the marketing department are Liberty Rapozo, Kudzi “Kayla” Chirume, Lucky Muzava, Brian Nyarambi, Pliers Paureni and Liberty Rapozo.
Brian Nyarambi, who holds a Diploma in Information, Communication and Technology, was appointed the head of logistics department.
“The band is now a registered company called Orchestra Dendera Kings (Private) Limited. This means it is no longer just a band but a company,” said Nyamungoma.
He said the clothing line will be available at affordable prices.
“Though these are original items, we are not going to overcharge our fans. In fact, the idea is to make them as cheap as possible so that fans will buy them in volumes.
“We are also eyeing the foreign markets where we have fans in countries like the United Kingdom, Australia, America, South African, Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana,” he said.
Nyamungoma said the merchandise including textbooks sourced from China will be of high quality.
“We are not just looking at fashion as we are also in the process of printing dendera- branded textbooks which will be donated to Simon Chimbetu Primary School in Chegutu and thereafter to all the schools around Zimbabwe,” he said.
