Recalled councillors: Chipinge to fill vacancies

CHIPINGE Town Council will tomorrow convene a meeting to choose the local authority’s chairperson and head of committees to replace the incumbents who were recalled by their party.

 

The positions fell vacant following the recall of four councillors by MDC-T.

 

MDC-T said the councillors were no longer representing the party’s interest.

 

The quartet – Cllrs Zivanai Nyakuchena (Ward One), Sarah Marwa (Ward Two), Laina Madenyika (Ward Four) and Chrispen Rambo (Ward Eight) – was served with letters on August 5.

 

Ward 6 councillor, Cllr Lovemore Mkwapati, confirmed tomorrow’s meeting to The Manica Post.

 

“We are going to hold a meeting on Wednesday (tomorrow) to choose the council chairperson and head of committees to fill the vacancies which arose following the recall of those four councillors,” said Cllr Mkwapati.
