THE red carpet has been rolled out for the Zimbabwe Music Awards taking place at the Harare International Conference Centre tonight with radio personality Candice Mwakalyelye being added as one of the presenters.
Running under the theme, “Celebrating leadership through music”, the award ceremony will be beamed live on ZBCtv from 6PM.
Mwakalyelye, who was the best dressed on the National Art Merit Awards (Nama) red carpet, will join veteran presenter Tich Mataz, replacing Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa who took care of business with Mataz last year.
Ammara Brown and Ghanaian reggae musician Ras Blakk are some of the artistes who will entertain guests.
Voting for the Song of the Year closes tonight.
In the category Jah Prayzah (Eriza), Winky D (Disappear) and Killer T (Takuda Kumbofarawo) renew their Nama rivalry as they have, once again, been pitted together.
Others nominated artistes include Roki and XQ (Alleluya), Fungisai featuring Killer T (Kana Zvandibata), Blessing Shumba (Chimwe Nechimwe), Janet Manyowa (Ndomira Pamuri) and Soul Afrika (Gulekwete).
All eyes will be on the red carpet as celebs have over the past week been challenged to dress up to add glitz and glam to the occasion. Mbo Mahocs and Gilmore Tee will be in the spotlight as they have been tasked to be the fashion police on the red carpet. They will scrutinise celebs’ dressing.
