THE Bulawayo netball end-of-season tournament set for Saturday to test the recently renovated facilities for the Under-20 Region 5 Games to be held in Bulawayo in December, has been postponed to next weekend.

Takonana Nsala one of the tournament organisers said the event has been shifted to next weekend when the renovations of the White City netball courts would be complete.

“We had a meeting with Region 5 Games local organising committee representatives and it was agreed that the tournament be moved to November 22,” said Nsala

The tournament was supposed to test Zimbabwe’s preparedness to play host to the Games.

Nsala said that the tournament will be held as soon as all necessary renovations at the venue are completed and the Region Five organising committee gives them the green light on the event.

“All the 16 teams in the Bulawayo Division One league will participate and we’re inviting the Bulawayo community to come and get a feel of the netball action expected this December,” Nsala said.

“Efforts to get a sponsor have proved unsuccessful so far. I’m appealing to the corporate sector to assist financially as the league is struggling and has resulted in some teams pulling out.”
