ZIMBABWE began their netball medal hunt in the AUSC Region 5 Under-20 Youth Games at White City Stadium by beating Botswana 52-20.

Although a fantastic success, the match was almost abandoned due to the rains that pounded the courts. The teams had to wait close to an hour to play as the heavens threatened to have the match postponed.

However, the disruption failed to impact the excitement and Team Zimbabwe’s exuberance meant the girls saw the game out in relative comfort.

The attacking talent of Zimbabwe meant the girls scored from all over the circle with fantastic accuracy. A show of incredible strength and resilience from Zimbabwe looked to have finally gained them control of the match as they stretched their advantage after Botswana had threatened to come back into the match.
