Reigate tourney: Huge success

THE much-anticipated Reigate primary schools multi-sports tournament which took place at Northlea High School in Bulawayo on Friday was a huge success as many participants from five zones clashed.
Youngsters challenged each other so as to qualify for the inter-district competitions to be held on August 4. They competed in football, volleyball, basketball and netball.

Reigate District Education Officer Misheck Ngwenya congratulated participants for a splendid performance and wished those who had not progressed a better chance in next year’s event.

All the teams in all disciplines showed an outstanding performance which left spectators amazed.
“The teachers worked very hard to get the children ready for the competitions and those that scooped prizes won with a small margin” said Saraphina Zenyeya, secretary of the Reigate primary schools tournament.

The victors in the Esats-sponsored tournament were Victoria Falls who showed a remarkable performance in volleyball while Entumbane/Emakhandeni grabbed the awards in football, netball and basketball for the Reigate Under-14 competitions.

“We were successful in picking up a district squad that is going to represent and make us proud at the inter-district competitions,” said Ngwenya.
