DYNAMOS moved two points clear of the relegation zone following a 2-1 win over rivals Caps United in a Harare derby on Sunday.
The win was a confidence booster for DeMbare as they fight for survival.
Dynamos occupied the last relegation slot going into Sunday’s game and moved four places up the table to 11th place with 34 points after coming from behind to dismiss Caps United.
It was a massive win for the Glamour Boys, who broke a five-match winless streak after last tasting victory on September 2 when they beat Bulawayo City 2-1.
Dynamos are fighting relegation with Yadah, Bulawayo Chiefs and Nichrut, who are tied on 32 points, and Chapungu on 33 points.
Mutare City Rovers, Shabanie Mine and Bulawayo City look set to be heading to Division One.
Of the teams fighting relegation, Dynamos have what looks like easy matches left, while Chiefs tread the hardest survival route.
Chiefs face former champions Chicken Inn, who beat them 2-0 in the first round, Shabanie Mine at home, championship chasing Ngezi Platinum Stars at Baobab Stadium, Highlanders and ZPC Kariba.
In the first round, Shabanie Mine beat Chiefs 2-1, claimed big wins against Ngezi and Highlanders, with identical 1-0 score lines, before losing 0-2 to ZPC Kariba.
“We have to take a game at a time and fight. It’s a tight race and being the last stages of the season we have to make sure we get positive results. First leg results do not matter and we have to come up with good game plans that will make us get points. Self-belief among the players can bring positive results in our survival fight,” said Chiefs’ technical analyst Thulani Sibanda.
Dynamos’ next encounter is against unpredictable Black Rhinos, a side they played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Herentals, who held them 0-0, and Triangle United, who clobbered them 3-0.
DeMbare’s last two games are against Division One-bound Mutare City and Nichrut; teams they respectively beat 1-0 and 2-1 in the reverse fixtures.
Nichrut are left with matches against FC Platinum (home), Black Rhinos (away), Herentals (home), Triangle (away) and Dynamos. The Shurugwi-based club lost to the five teams in the first round and will hope to avoid back-to-back defeats.
Chapungu are left with an away trip to Ngezi and are home to Highlanders, ZPC Kariba (away), Yadah (home) and Caps United (away).
It won’t be an easy road for Chapungu, who only managed to draw against Highlanders in the first round and lost to the other teams, but Rodwell Dhlakama has done well to turn around their fortunes.
Yadah, who drew 1-1 against ZPC Kariba in their last game, have what looks like an easy game against Mutare City, followed by a derby against Caps United, a home game against Bulawayo City, and an away trip to Chapungu before facing Harare City in their last game of the season.
