LLOYD Mutasa is a relieved man after MWOS concluded the first half of the season with a comfortable win at Ngoni yesterday – ending Manica Diamonds’ six-game unbeaten run.
The hosts had to come from behind after Fortune Binzi had thrust the visitors ahead with an overhead kick in the 22nd minute.
That was soon after Namibian striker Dawid Ndeunyema had missed an early penalty.
Ndeunyema, who ended up being man-of-the-match, redeemed himself and turned provider, setting up Jeremiah Makangira for the equaliser.
MWOS came back fired up in the second half and went ahead courtesy of Arthur Banda.
He was played through by Valentine Katsande in the 49th minute.
Ndeunyema then scored a beauty, lobbing the ball past two defenders before firing past the Manica Diamonds ‘keeper.
MWOS moved into seventh place.
“The boys have been a little bit under pressure but we always tell them to go out there and show the world what they can do,” said Mutasa.
Manica Diamonds coach, Patrick Mandizha, lamented the missed chances.
“It was a game of two halves, we controlled the first and MWOS came back much improved.
“We need to improve upfront,” said Mandizha.
