‘Respect traditional leaders’

ZANU-PF recognises the crucial role being played by traditional leaders as they are custodians of the nation’s cultural norms and values, National Chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said yesterday. Addressing a rally at Masendu Cultural Centre, Cde Khaya Moyo urged people to respect traditional leaders.
“Traditional leaders have been bestowed as crucial leaders within our communities. They are the custodians of our cultural norms and values which are the backbone of a stable nation.

“Let us show respect to these leaders because of their crucial role in society. The level of respect for our traditional leaders continues to deteriorate by the day. Our conduct and behaviour when we are before our traditional leaders diminishes their value in society,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
He also urged the youths who make the majority of the country’s population to be responsible and cognisant of the existence of their elders.

“A message that the revolutionary party always disseminates to young people is that of respect for the elderly people. Other than that youths should make wise choices at all cost in order to avoid regrettable decisions in the future. Instead of engaging in self damaging acts like alcohol abuse they must pursue self development,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo said the revolutionary party was prepared to capacitate rural communities as they lacked means of developing their areas.
“People within rural communities need to be capacitated in order to realise the full potential of the resources found in their areas. People need to realise the full potential of their resources as they are the rightful owners.

“There is a lot of untapped potential within rural communities. The challenge is that people do not have the appropriate resources. Once we win the elections, Zanu-PF will empower people by availing resources towards the development of their communities,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
He said the development that would be urgently rendered within communities involved utilising water sources that were lying idle to improve the livelihoods of people.

“Dams are lying idle while people do not have food supplies and water supplies. These dams will be resuscitated to supply irrigation schemes for food security purposes.

“Water supplies will be guaranteed, roads will be improved and rural communities will be electrified. The revolutionary party has conducted a thorough research on people’s grievances and they shall be addressed as stated in our manifesto,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

He said Zanu-PF had managed to gain widespread support because of multiple development processes presented by the party.
“The nation has finally come to realise that voting any other party besides Zanu-PF would be a recipe for poverty. Factories within Bulawayo have closed rapidly thereby hampering development but the MDC-T which has been manning the Finance Ministry has failed to address this anomaly.

“People are now rallying behind the revolutionary party and this is evidenced by thousands of people who have been coming to attend Zanu-PF rallies while MDC parties have been ailing for support from the people,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo lamented the laxity which prevailed within the health sector resulting in poor service delivery.
“Today, the health service delivery system is ailing because of reluctant staff members. The Zanu-PF Government system will ensure an improved health sector.

“Today, you find health personnel denying people services after closing time. This will come to an end because the health sector is central to the people’s well being,” he said.
