Retired Major General Dzihwema dies

THE Commander Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi, has announced the death of Retired Major General Everisto Dzihwema.

He was 63.

The former senior military officer died in India yesterday, where he was receiving treatment.

In a statement, Director of Army Public Relations Colonel Hlengiwe Dube said:

“The Commander Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi, regrets to announce the untimely death of Major General (Retired) Everisto Dzihwema.

“Major General (Retired) Dzihwema passed away on 25 June 2026 in India. He was 63.”

Colonel Dube said the late retired Major General is survived by his wife, Alice Dzihwema, and three children.

She said mourners are gathered at House Number 5535, Zimre Park in Ruwa, while funeral and burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.

Major General (Retired) Dzihwema was among the Zimbabwe National Army’s senior retired officers.
