A BINGE turns nasty.

A man from Bulawayo’s Nketa suburb, who was taking down wise waters with his drinking mates at one of the night spots in the city, was left counting his losses after he was robbed of US$6 000 and cellphones.

A police source said while Martin David Forde was having beer at a drinking spot which is between 11th Avenue and George Silundika Street an unknown woman approached him and said there were three men who wanted to see him.

“He went outside to see the people who were looking for him. When he got at corner 11 Avenue and George Silundika Street unknown people rushed towards him,” said the source.

Sensing danger, the source said, Forde tried to flee, but they hit him on the head and he fell down.

“While he was lying on the ground one of the robbers hit him on the head again with a beer bottle. He bled profusely and became unconscious,” said the source.

They took his cash and two cellphones.

“They swiftly searched him and took US$6000, ZW$800, a Huawei P8 and Itel cellphone. The robbers sped off with the loot and left Forde wriggling on the ground in agony,” said the source.

He gained consciousness after 30 minutes and staggered to Bulawayo Central Police Station where he reported the case.

Contacted for a comment Bulawayo acting Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm that a man was assaulted and robbed of US$6000, ZW$800, Huawei P8 and Itel cellphone. The suspects are still at large. We are appealing to members of the public who may have information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact any nearest police, “ she said.
