GOSPEL musician Reverend Togarasei Chivaviro will end his three-year sabbatical when he launches his 21st album on September 6, which also coincides with the release of his sixth book sharing the same title − ‘It Is Well’.
Chivaviro is “optimistic” about both projects.
He says his decision to have the album and book share the same title was deliberate as he shifts from traditional commercial music to prioritise artistic freedom with a mainstream appeal.
“I am back from my three-year sabbatical with my 21st album aptly entitled ‘It Is Well’. My three-year break was not idle, it was a period where I ventured more into my other passion, book writing,” said Rev Chivaviro.
“The decision to give my book and my music album the same title was very deliberate, the songs and the literature work hand in glove saying one and the same thing.
“I am urging music listeners and avid readers that no matter what they may be going through now in life, they should just trust in the Lord telling themselves ‘It Is Well’.
“Rejoice and know as long as you are under his wings, things shall be well,” he said.
He says he has plans to also convert the stories from his book and music into a short film.
“I always enjoy breaking new grounds, trying new things which have not been done before. I am already making plans to engage a renowned filmmaker Nakai Tsuro to turn the story in this book into a movie, I believe it can be done,” he said.
Songs on the album include Season Yekufara ft Shantel Sithole, Fambe Fambe Tobvunza Mweya, Denga Rati Hongu, Dombo Rakarekare, Rukariro and the title track.
Reverend Chivaviro recorded his first music album − ‘Peace, Hope and Love’ − in 1999, while his first book was published in 2005.
