VUSA Ngwenya is turning out to be one of the fastest rising stars in the Premiership.

By scoring at Rufaro for Dynamos against Scottland in the 3-2 win, one of the biggest matches of the season, he made a big statement.

Playing for Dynamos is a big test, and scoring on that stage is another.

The marquee clash was headlined by the likes of Scottland’s Knowledge Musona, Terrence Dzvukamanja, Tymon Machope and Khama Billiat.

Yet, on this grand stage, it was Ngwenya’s relentless perseverance that stood out.

“It was a goal at the biggest stage and a few expected it from me. But it came. Just like many fans who were living the moment I was delighted and I am happy especially by the quality of goal,” Ngwenya said.

His journey to this moment has been a brutal test of character.

Just weeks ago, his first professional goal was cruelly erased from the record books when the FC Platinum abandoned game was awarded to the rivals on 3-0 scoreline.

“For me this was my second professional goal at Dynamos. The first came against FC Platinum,” he said.

That blow was merely the latest among many setbacks for the young talent who joined Dynamos Juniors when he was just 12. There is the COSAFA snub drama to add to that.

But no tragedy was bigger than the passing of his father after a long illness in July. Ngwenya has chosen resilience.

He is channeling his grief into grit, he has fought his way back into a Dynamos side in the midst of its own chaotic season.

“I know you are happy dad, this one was for you,” Ngwenya wrote on his Whatsapp status dedicating the goal to his dad.

His impact in the 3-2 win over Scottland wasn’t just a strike on the scoresheet; it was a roaring declaration.

After being knocked down time and again by fate and football, Vusa Ngwenya is not only back on his feet, but is now soaring, finally earning his stripes as a name to watch in Dynamos colours.

“The victory against Scottland was just another step towards our goal. At this moment everyone knows the target it is to survive relegation and we are not yet done,” he said.
