The Government has continued to rehabilitate more roads, especially in Harare and Bulawayo, under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme.
This initiative falls under the National Road Rehabilitation Programme being spearheaded by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, in line with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which aims to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy.
In Harare, asphalt concrete application is underway on Harare Drive, spanning from Nemakonde Way (formerly Lomagundi) to Sam Nujoma Street Extension (formerly Second Street Extension).
According to the Ministry, the project aims to enhance road safety, durability and overall driving experience.
“Construction is also currently underway on the Khami Prison Access Road in Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, enhancing accessibility and connectivity,” the Ministry said.
“Construction is underway also on the Cecil Avenue Road Rehabilitation Project in Bulawayo Metropolitan Province a critical step toward our vision of becoming a regional hub of world-class transport networks, logistics and services by 2030.”
