Mutual Centre in the city of US$1 million.
Investigations by The Herald have established that the robbers had information that US$1 million was going to be transported to the bank from the property company’s premises on Friday.
It has been established that the three and their accomplices had picked up the information that officials at Old Mutual Centre had collected the money, which was going to be deposited at a bank in the city.

The gang wanted to hit last Friday but the three were shot and killed before executing their mission.
The slain robbers are Ezekiel Kavhisa, a former policeman Munyaradzi Fragga and Gladwell Julius believed to be part of a gang that stole US$101 000 at CBZ University of Zimbabwe branch. Police said Kavhisa was on the wanted list since 1997, while Fragga who was based at Southerton Police Station Police had a pending armed robbery case at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts.
Sources close to the investigations yesterday said they were not aware that Fragga was now the mastermind of some of the armed robbery cases in and around the city.
The trio and an accomplice believed to be a former policeman Edison Chikomba, who is still at large, reportedly fired at detectives that had ambushed them in Chitungwiza.
Chikomba was part of the four policemen that robbed a Kingdom Bank branch in the city centre of US$120 794, R48 930, £155, 10 Australian dollars and P1 800 in February in 2009. Since then, he has been on the run and police are still looking for him. The CBZ robbery took place on September 6 this year.
The gang reportedly attacked Brising Security guards who were moving cash with a P38 Pistol and got away with US$101 000.
On November 11, the same gang allegedly robbed Mr Mike Chiyangwa along Sam Nujoma Street in Harare of US$28 000 after threatening to shoot him with a pistol.
During the raid the gang dropped the pistol used in the robberies. Police investigations led to the arrest of one of Brising Security’s guards, Julius Pedzisai who is suspected to have connived with the gang. Brising Security was hired by CBZ to transport cash to its branches. Another suspect, Charles Farai Mabika, was arrested on November 30 in Masvingo. His arrest led the police to the four-armed robbers. The four, who were waylaid by detectives in Chitungwiza, allegedly shot at the police.
Police say no policemen was injured in the shootout.
