In one of the cases a Waterfalls woman boarded a commuter omnibus around 6am on her way to Mbare.
When she was in the commuter omnibus she discovered that the other passengers were all wearing black masks.
One of the passengers is said to have grabbed her from behind and tore off her blouse while the other man in a mask forced her to suck his private part.
The gang stole US$20 from the woman and fled along Simon Mazorodze Road.
She later made a report to the police.
Inspector Sabau said earlier on, in Kuwadzana Extension, three unknown assailants pounced on two security guards who were manning a service station before fleeing with cash amounting to US$12 000 and two cellphones.
“Douglas Hwozhera (40) and Admire Makoni (25) were on duty at Kalamanzi Petroleum and suddenly three men jumped over a durawall and threatened to strike them with iron bar.
“The robbers then ordered them to lie on the ground and later tied their hands using a wire.”
The group of armed robbers broke into the office, opened a safe and took US$12 000 and two Nokia cellphones, before fleeing from the crime scene.
In another robbery on the same day at around 4 am a taxi driver, Witness Phiri was robbed of cash, a car radio and a cellphone after offering three unidentified men transport to Mbare.
It is said when Phiri was driving along Daniel Road in Mbare, one of the passengers grabbed him from behind and ordered him to stop the car.
The trio then ransacked his taxi and got away with the property worth US$500.
Inspector Sabau said the last robbery case to be reported occurred around 2100 hours in the evening.
“A shop attendant Tichaona Manuwa (24) was about to close his grocery shop while talking to one of his customers.
“Three unknown men entered the shop and ordered Manuwa to lie on the floor but he denied and one of the robbers struck him with a bottle on the head,” Inspector Sabau said.
He said the customer hid behind a row of empty crates while Manuwa fled from his shop.
“They (robbers) opened the till using a sharp object and took US$3 000 before fleeing in a Mercedes Benz.”
Inspector Sabau urged the public to inform police if they have any information about the gang of robbers.
