Robbers vanish with 10kg gold ore

Seven armed robbers who were armed with three AK47 rifles recently raided a gold milling plant in Kadoma and got away with 10kg of gold ore.

The gang stripped five gold miners before robbing them of the gold ore at midnight.

Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the incident.

“We are investigating a case of armed robbery which occurred on May 9 at a gold milling plant in Battlefields, Kadoma,” she said.

Five gold miners were operating a milling plant when seven male adults who were putting on woolen masks and black clothes approached them armed with three suspected AK rifles.

Snr Asst Comm Charamba said the suspects ordered the miners to lie down and stripped them naked before robbing them of 10kg gold concentrate and other valuables.

“Police are appealing for information which may lead to the identification and arrest of the culprits,” she said. Anyone with information can report to their nearest police station or contact National Complaints Desk on telephone number (04) 703631.
