THERE was a robbery at Marlborough Primary School with the institution losing an undisclosed amount of money.
The administration office caught fire, which alerted a school employee, Denmark Nyaronga, and caretaker, Matemba Munetsi, who discovered the break-in.
Nyaronga and Munetsi discovered that the offices of the bursar and SDC clerk had been broken into.
One of the safes was found open and US$2 613 was missing.
The keys to the safe were reportedly missing, but a spare set was obtained from the bank.
However, the cash boxes containing the stolen money and receipts, could not be found.
The police were notified and an investigation is underway.
“The safe keys, said to have been left in the SDC’s office by the bursar were missing, but the safe was locked.
“They were given spare safe keys by the bank, and a team comprising the school head, teacher-in-charge and SDC clerk then opened the safe and found no cash or receipts,” said a source.
The case was reported at Marlborough Police Station under RRB 5550837.
