Rooney thanks Man U fans

LONDON. — Wayne Rooney has spoken out to thank Manchester United fans for their support at Monday’s Old Trafford showdown with Chelsea.
The England striker has been linked throughout the summer with a move to Stamford Bridge, but received a rapturous response from the home crowd at the goalless draw.
Rooney took to his official Facebook page to show his appreciation, and post photos of the game.
He posted: “Here’s some pictures from Monday night’s game. It was an unbelievable reaction from the fans, so thank you.
“I really appreciate your support. It means a lot.” Rooney also received ironic chants from the away end, with Chelsea fans chanting his name and singing “see you next week.”
However, it is now unlikely the striker will depart Old Trafford, and the club may open talks on a new deal if he toes the line once the transfer window shuts. United captain Nemanja Vidic was not surprised by the backing Rooney received in the Chelsea match. “The supporters have always supported the players,” said the Serbian. “Wayne is no different.
“He has been supported throughout the years and I don’t think there was a question he would have been supported against Chelsea. “He has scored so many goals and won so many trophies. I expected him to receive a good reception”, — Mailonline.
