AN elderly Chigodora woman who terminated a relationship with her married lover is now wheelchair bound after the man allegedly cast a sex lock spell (runyoka) on her.

The woman, only identified as Gogo Maundu, recently appeared before Headman Chigodora pleading for the court’s intervention in convincing Edmund Maziwei to undo the spell.

Gogo Maundu said she has tried everything to be healed from the ailment.

She believes that Maziwei has the remedy to her predicament.

The elderly woman said she dated Maziwei for a year and later decided to end their relationship.

“I dated him from 2021 to 2022. He is married and would come and see me at my house. I later realised that our relationship was not working and terminated it.

“He didn’t want to let go and threatened me with unknown consequences. I started feeling unwell but I never thought that he could be behind the ailment.

“I went from one hospital to the other in vain as l tried to find a cure for my ailment. My children took me for X-rays, all to no avail. The doctors could not diagnose anything,” she said.

Gogo Maundu said she then consulted various spiritual healers and they all said only Maziwei could heal her through immersing his belt in water and then giving her that water to drink.

“I visited six spiritual healers. They said Maziwei put runyoka on me. This is why I cannot walk and I am struggling with my health. I want to be healed and I am prepared to appease him because my health is deteriorating with each passing day.

“The prophets asked me to beg Maziwei to immerse his belt in water so that I can drink that water and get healed. I called him but he refused to assist me. He denies putting runyoka on me,” said Gogo Maundu.

She also said she tried sending her grandchildren as emissaries to Maziwei, but they came back with no positive responses.

“I have sent my grandchildren thrice to engage Maziwei but he refuses to budge. He does not want to help me. He is enjoying my suffering. I need help. I know it was wrong for me to date a married man, but the punishment is unbearable. I have been bedridden for a year now,” she said.

Maziwei defaulted the court hearing.

Headman Chigodora ordered his aides to bring Maziwei before his court tomorrow (Saturday).

“He has disrespected my court by not showing up. I am instructing my aides to summon and bring him before this court on May 13 so that this woman can get the help she needs.

“He should come with his wife so that we know exactly who is behind this ailment. If it means that Maundu should pay them, let it be since her life is now in danger. It is not easy for an old woman like her to publicly confess her sins,” said Headman Chigodora.
