A Mutare woman who recently confronted her husband over his extra marital affairs dragged him to court to apply for a protection order after he had threatened to kill her.

The matter was heard at the Mutare Magistrate’s Civil Court, with Mr Xavier Chipato presiding over the case.

The protection order was granted in Grace Kamutanho’s favor and will be valid for five years.

Kamutanho told the court that Nyasha Jakachira is threatening to assault her to death ever since she confronted him about his extra marital affairs.

“Ever since we got married, my husband has been assaulting me and having extra marital affairs. Two weeks ago, his sister came home to talk to him about this and tried to resolve our problems. I thought our problems were solved until last week when his girlfriend came to our place to insult me, she also wanted to assault me. When I asked him to stop her, he refused,” said Kamutanho.

She said after that incident, her husband threatened her with death and she had to go to her parent’s house to seek refuge.

“He lied to me about his age and I only discovered that he is younger than me when l saw his national identity card. So he argues that I am treating him like my son since I am older than him,” said Kamutanho.

Jakachira told the court that he only threatened to assault her after she kept on asking about the issues that had been resolved by his sister.

He denied threatening her with death.

“I told her that I was not having an affair with that woman but she kept on talking about it, even after my sister had solved the issue so I threatened to assault her in order to silence her.

“She then ran away that night and I looked for her but I couldn’t find her and now we are on separation. I love my wife and I want her back,” said Jakachira.

Mr Chipato said the couple must observe peace at all times and that they should engage a third party to solve their issues.
