Rusununguko High School’s robotics team is flying the national flag high at the Technoxian World Robotics Championships in India, after qualifying for the global event following an impressive victory at the International Robotics Competition hosted by Robokora Zimbabwe in July.
The robotics team is competing against some of the world’s best young innovators, showcasing not only their technical skills but also the spirit of Zimbabwean ingenuity.
With their robots, code, and creativity, the students are determined to prove that local innovation can stand shoulder to shoulder with global standards.
“We are here to represent Zimbabwe, and this competition has been inspiring. It motivates us to keep improving our innovation skills,” said Shyleen Chimedza.
The school’s robotics coordinator, Rumbidzai Madhlangobe, praised the learners for exceeding expectations.
“Looking at their designs and problem-solving abilities, the students have shown us that the future is full of possibilities,” she said.
Robokorda Zimbabwe director Roy Dambudzo Nyathi, commended the achievement, stressing the importance of such platforms in shaping future leaders.
“It’s a very important opportunity. Through robotics and coding, we are preparing children for a modern, industrialised Zimbabwe,” he said.
“Participation in global competitions equips learners with critical problem-solving and innovation skills, in line with the national Education 5.0 model that seeks to transform the country into a knowledge-driven and industrialised economy.”
