RVP faces the chop

LONDON. — Robin Van Persie could be axed from the Manchester United side to face Crystal Palace at the weekend. Van Persie has only netted three times this term as Louis van Gaal’s side continue to stutter in the Premier League. And The Mirror are reporting that 18-year-old James Wilson could be handed his first league start at the expense of the Dutchman.

Van Gaal is yet to decide on his starting line-up to face the Eagles, but could be tempted to put his faith in youth once again after handing débuts to Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett this term. Speculation has grown over a possible starting spot for Wilson after the striker was withdrawn 60 minutes into the Under-21s’ 3-2 defeat to Leicester. Radamel Falcao remains sidelined with a calf complaint and Wilson is tipped to partner club-captain Wayne Rooney up top tomorrow. — The Daily Star.
